The Clayton Hotel is a great hotel to experience Amsterdam with. The rooms, food and service was great. One gripe when I stayed is that there were renovations happening during my stay and builders were making noise near my room. I was ensured by the staff that the builders would work from 9-5 but they started early every day. Did ruin the visit.

The hotel is very conveniently located between the canals and the museum quarter. A maximum of 2k walk any direction for what you would want to do In Amsterdam. Tram stop and supermarket across the road. Restaurant and bar with outside seating if you fancy staying in after a long day. Exactly what we were looking for. Thank you.

Major building work underway at the hotel. Very noisy from 9am each day and facade covered in scaffolding. No mention of this when booking this property on Expedia! Beds had mattress toppers which "slid off". Not comfortable at all. Not what i expected when booking a premium hotel. Very very disappointed. If had been made aware of the building works underway would have booked elsewhere.

The property is undergoing construction on part of the interior and the entire exterior. Stayed in room facing inner court so did not hear construction noise. So ask for inner court room. The rooms are fine, we reserved two rooms of same category and one was quite a bit larger than the other one. The elevators are confusing and depending on what floor you are staying on you might be better off just taking stairs if you physically can, since not all elevators stop on all floors and you find yourself wandering to get to your elevator. There was a hiccup with breakfast being included as it only showed for one room. Then when they added the cost to the second room we had to have that removed from bill as we decided not to eat breakfast. The buffet is a joke and at 24 euros a person I expect better - no fresh squeezed juice and scrambled eggs were definitely not fresh eggs - I do t even want to know. Cappuccino machine was good but the coffee offered in the room not very good. As for the city tax, it would be nice if hotel was clear at time of check in how much the additional cost would be so you don’t get another surprise after check out.

The restaurant at the hotel was beautiful and the service was wonderful. The hotel itself was going through renovations which was not stated during booking, so most of it was closed off. The room was just ok but the bathroom was not very clean. The room had a nice, large terrace which was facing the main street. So a little noise is expected, but I guess for some reason the fountain that is in front is a popular hang out for young adults that are extremely loud. They were making screaming noises, singing and basically having a lot of fun till early morning. Unfortunately it will keep you up or wake you up duri g the night. Also we stayed for a week and this was a nightly thing. So if you are a light sleeper you may have issues. On the other hand the locatio. Is very convenient. There are many trams at your disposal. Overall it wasn't awful but I would not go out of my way to recommend it.

Great, except for the construction

This was a great hotel in a great location. The only issue was that there is construction of the lobby taking place, meaning there is scaffolding/construction going on (including men outside our window around 9:30am one day), which was annoying, but had no real impact to our stay. The cleanliness, service, comfort etc were all fine, and I'd be more than happy to stay there again.

We had not been informed at the point of booking that the hotel was being refurbished. I spent extra to have a Deluxe room with balcony. The balcony door was locked when we arrived and the desk were surprised we wanted access to it. When the door was unlocked we could see why. The balcony was not accessible due to scaffolding boards over it and scaffolding and mesh obscuring any view. I asked the reception to be moved but was told they could not. Although we were offered breakfast on one night of our stay. I do not think this was ample compensation for the disappointment of the room. The nespresso machine did not work and when I asked for it to be replaced it was removed but not replaced. I had paid double what I could have done elsewhere for a bit of luxury but this hotel was not that.

The property was under renovation also inside room you could easily hear noise from corridor. Since I am travelling from Canada and long Term on the way usually in other countries ,staffs faced very nicely and provide me earlier check-in to rest but here they didn't provide it earlier for me!

Nive Art Nouveau hotel

Very nice Hotel. Exterior appearance it is very nice (despite they have renovations works in this moment). Staff was very nice and available to help and answer to requests.
