For a 4* hotel, the room was a little tired. Particularly the bathroom, it was dated and a bit shabby.

On an traffic island ,so not a great position but we did not hear traffic noise.Perfect for our over night stay Excellent in every way

Quiet,not to far from town.

Very pleasant, staff excellent, facilities good. Bed mattresses need renewing I think. Food on main course menu in restaurant needs attention. The pie was not good. I know two people complained.

Not quite as good as last time

Pros: Friendly and responsive staff, good food and a very convenient location for us to visit family.
Cons: Possibly a bit more attention to the condition of the toilets and towels
Location: Very convenient for Basingstoke and area and for trains to London.
My wife & I had a good stay in November, so we booked again as a base to visit our family over Christmas. Staff were as friendly and positive as before, the breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable. In general it was fine. However, we found that our toilet had dirty brown water when we arrived. It flushed away quickly and was no problem overnight or in the morning. The problem was that when we weren't there during the day it kept filling it up with more dirty brown water. To be fair, as we didn't want to change rooms, we didn't report it before we left, or they may have attended to it. They certainly said they would once we had reported it. We also had 2 sets of towels removed after our first night, to be replaced by just one set for 2 of us. I collected another set from reception, but the replacement bath towel had holes in it and wasn't really up to standard. Possibly a bit nit-picking, but it slightly spoilt what would otherwise have been a very good experience.

Far exceeded our expectations

Pros: Virtually everything, especially the value
Cons: My only nit-picking comment was that the bacon at breakfast was overcooked and more like American style crispy stuff.
Location: Easy to get to, great for car parking, on a bus route and close to the town centre, with a brilliant train service to London
We booked at the Apollo for 2 nights as a suitable low price base to travel to London with our family. Having seen other reviews, we weren't too sure what to expect, but it was fine. The hotel is fairly new, smart and clean. It has plenty of parking space and is on a bus route, which saved us having to park the car in Basingstoke town centre. Great location! Although we didn't use it, there is also a health centre on site. Reception was quick and professional and we were impressed that, as we made our way to find a lift, one of the managers could see that we weren't quite sure where to go, so not only gave us directions but offered to carry our rucksack and bags (we travelled light)! The room was a reasonable size for a basic room, was clean and comfortable and had better amenities than some competitors we had tried first- such as a nice range of shampoo, body wash & conditioner, and a hair dryer in the room. There was an extensive buffet breakfast, which was regularly replenished and the staff immediately responded to any request to replace empty supplies (plates, tea bags, etc.) They were all very helpful and pleasant. All told, we felt we had got a bargain, which far exceeded our original expectations.

A really lovely hotel

Quiet comfortable room with great restaurants good food friendly staff close to an amazing Shopping Centre we had a fantastic stay and we will definitely be returning thankyou to all at the Apollo and Merry Christmas
