The location is center of all attractions. There are limited dining choices inside the park. Turned out ice cream parlor and the clubhouse next to golf course are our favorites. There was 1 day of our stay that the resort had power outage. I found out from nps website before arrival. No messages from hotel beforehand. It was supposed to be between 7am and 4pm. However it extended to 5pm or so. With the heat (close to 100F) outside, we planned to stay in after lunch until early evening. But it was unbearable to stay in the room without ac. It reached 85F inside before power came back. Imagine what would happen if this is summer. Dining choices were down to whatever general store sold in the fridge. We drove out to Beatty for lunch. The resort had no compensation or plan for their guests during so. With the price we were paying for the room, i found this unacceptable.

It was very unique to be able to stay in the Death Valley Region. There was a lot of exploring of the Desert and it was very nice to be able to come and visit and stay within the park, we have a special needs son and he especially loved the Ice Cream store that he enjoyed. There are a few restaurants on site which made it nice to be able to be close to.

Very nice hotel. We stayed in cottage and we loved it. New, clean and big. Pool is open until 11 pm. Stores and dining options right on the hotel property so no driving needed. We would stay there again!

OVERPRICED/POOR SERVICE

Upon arrival we waited quite a while to check in. No valet or signs on where to park for check in so people arriving all looked confused and only one staff in town hall. Staff lady had terrible hospitality and slide a map to us and said enjoy your stay. Very cold, not welcoming at all. When we got to the room, we tried to call front desk to figure out where the microwave was on the property and no body answered. Even tried calling on my phone and with the room phone, kept ringing. Building 700 smelled like a hospice home. At the pool somebody came by and told us he’s closing the pool and we needed to leave, we looked at the time and it was not even closing time yet. It was about 10 minutes until closing and the staff was acting as if we needed to leave immediately. It’s so over priced but I guess when you’re in Death Valley anything is fine which is why they probably get away with poor service. Wouldn’t recommend or go back.

Nice Stay in Death Valley

Was told we had to stay overnight to see the stars! So we did. Heads up - we did receive advance warning that the power was going to be out in the area from 8-4. OK we were touring around and probably wouldn't get to the Ranch until 4:00 so no problem. BUT - we got there about 4:30pm in 95 degrees and no power!! People were milling around trying to stay cool. No communication from the staff about places to go for relief. Just signs on the door that now 5:00pm was the projected electricity turnon. If not on by 6:00pm we would have to evacuate. WHAT??? Where to?? We learned from another guest the clubhouse was serving and had AC. We headed over and ate dinner - which was good - big portions and hung out. FINALLY at 5:45pm the electricity came back on. Sure they apologized but no small compensation for the inconvenience was offered. Not even free breakfast coupon!! The grounds are nicely kept. There's a pool (high chlorine levels), pickleball, BB, ice cream parlor, General Store, restaurants and a post office. The room was nice, bed comfortable and the place was clean.

Its ok considering the location

Its in the middle of death valley so I'm aware the conditions will make it hard to keep high standards, but we were disappointed with the very noisy a/c through the night, tiny bugs crawling all over the sideboard and sewer smell in the corridor. My dad had to move rooms as his bathroom smelt so bad. Having said that, the pool is lovely and the buffet dining reasonably priced.
