Stepping into Stamford Plaza Adelaide on North Terrace, I was greeted with warm smiles and a personal touch, with staff addressing me by name from check-in to check-out. The hotel’s prime location, just 600m from Adelaide Oval, is perfect for sports fans. Rundle Mall (200m), the Art Gallery of South Australia (500m), and Adelaide Botanic Garden (1.6km) offer shopping and culture, while Gouger Street (1km) and Leigh Street (800m) buzz with dining and fashion. The King Deluxe room was clean, cozy, and spacious, with modern amenities like a flat-screen TV and plush bedding. Complimentary chocolates and wine added a special touch. Remarkably quiet despite the central spot, it was a relaxing haven, though slight decor wear hints at ongoing renovations. Transportation is effortless, with Adelaide Central Station opposite for trains to the airport (7km, 15 mins) or Glenelg Beach (40-min tram). Buses and trams are steps away, and valet parking is available, though tight for larger cars. The Adelaide Convention Centre is a 600m walk. The staff, especially Anisa, Varisha, and Janvi, were exceptional, keeping my room spotless with warm smiles. Dining at La Boca Bar and Grill and nearby Gouger and Leigh Streets offers culinary variety. Minor dated fixtures aside, Stamford Plaza’s location and hospitality make it a great Adelaide base.

Lovely room with a view. Checking in and out is a slow process. Parking offsite is a bit difficult with luggage. Overall the hotel is in a great location with easy access to the city.

The room was clean. Check in was easy and location was great. The lifts were busy at breakfast time which made for quite the wait to go down, but thankfully a staff member helped us use the service lift to get down after a quick phone call to let reception know 😊

Average Hotel

An average hotel (tired) but in a great location. Their normal nightly room rate was increased threefold when we visited though because the rugby was on!! The general service around the hotel was OK. Added to this because we had a "do not disturb" on our door until 10am, our room was not made up and we had to request fresh towels when we returned later in the evening. I was advised that this was my fault because I didn't make contact with the front desk to re-arrange housekeeping. That will teach me for being on holiday and having a lay in without reading the fine print. The car parking provided was terrible. It was very tight & difficult to navigate which most likely contributed to the significant door damage my Mercedes received whilst parked there overnight.... $30 per day for the privilege of this also closely resembled robbery. Like most business's these days though, they hide away behind their websites and make it difficult for customers to contact them directly.

I spent three nights in the Junior Spa Suite, and the hotel's location was a definite win. Being so close to North Terrace was perfect for catching Illuminate Adelaide's dazzling city lights, and having a clear pickup spot made getting an Uber or joining a local tour super easy. However, the real standout was the unparalleled care from the room attendant during my second night. I've always put a towel on my pillow to prevent sweat, and this was the first time ever a room attendant did not simply took that away! They neatly folded a fresh towel and left it right on the bed—I didn't even have to go grab one. They also had an uncanny knack for knowing what to throw away and what to keep. You might think these are basic expectations, but honestly, so many other "luxury" hotels miss these crucial details. Even though the room's amenities were older, everything worked perfectly, with no issues at all. I left feeling incredibly pleased with the value for money I got from this hotel.
