It was a short but wonderful stay. The rooms are small but very cozy, the staff is very accommodating. I only wish I had more time for the lovely looking breakfast that was provided. 5Star!

Wonderful stay. We had early flight so we were given a to go bag for breakfast. I was accidently given a gluten free breakfast so my bag was changed out for another one. I was very disappointed to find that this bag had no yogurt and the bananas were green Bummer! That's what I would have liked to eaten at 6am. That is my only complaint. That and nights were noisy due to old building noises

I stayed at The Craftsmen for 3 nights during a solo visit to Amsterdam. The Bookbinder room was the perfect space for a solo traveler: compact but with everything I needed, under a traditional beamed ceiling, with windows opening out onto the canal. I felt well cared-for, with little goodies and even a small bottle of complimentary bubbly in the room’s wine fridge. The bathroom had Moulton Brown products. Breakfast was amazing: coffee, fresh oj, yogurt, fruit, granola, delicious bread selection, warm Dutch poffertjes, and egg (this is normally presented as a boiled egg but after the first day I asked for mine scrambled, and after that they made me incredible scrambled eggs with cheese and tomato each morning). You can have the breakfast either brought to your room or eat in the Gallery room downstairs. The Craftsmen is in a great location in the Western Canal Ring area, about 10 min. walk to train station, walkable to Anne Frank House and Jordaan, about 5 min. walk to Royal Palace, and 10 mins. to Begijnhof and Red Light District. It’s a 3 min. walk to the Nieuwezijds Kolk tram stop, where the #2 or #12 tram will take you in 10 mins. to the Vondelpark Museums (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk, MoCo). I did that pleasant ride each morning. For its location and canal-facing charm, there are some small trade offs: my room had heat but no a/c, (but did have a Dyson fan and was fine in early May), and elevator is small. It was a great stay!

We loved The Craftsman! Excellent location and incredibly charming boutique hotel in a historic canal house. We stayed in The Blacksmith which was perfect for our family with 2 teenagers. The staff were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. Amazing breakfast each day. Would absolutely stay here again and will recommend to everyone we know who is traveling to Amsterdam!

Must stay! Clean, good water pressure and comfy beds. You are near all of major sites. The ferry is 10 minute walk to get to the hop on and off buses for kuekenhof. Book ahead of time! It will take you 15 mins to get to this is holland. The breakfast was spectacular and specifically made for you! Short cab ride from the airport or Amsterdam Centraal. Enjoy!

I can’t wait to return!

The hotel was immaculate and the staff were so friendly. The amenities were top notch and the room was really comfortable, it had everything I needed and more. The location was central and ideal for a tourist wanting to explore. I came down to breakfast and was met by an array of bread and pastries which I thought looked lovely, I didn’t realise until I was shown to my table that they had laid out a wonderful assortment of treats for me including fresh mini pancakes, fresh fruit, yoghurt, boiled egg, cheese and meat- the coffee was great and I was blown away by the service and attention to detail from the staff. I will be recommending the hotel to anyone visiting and I hope to be back myself in the near future. I wouldn’t want to spoil any surprises for future guests of the hotel but the extra touches went a long way, thank you.
