The hotel was nice, classic Amsterdam hotels will small bar/check in area and rooms spread around. Great location, in the nicer part if town as well. I didnt like that our rooms were accessed via a separate front door e.g. didnt go through the lobby/bar to access them. You had use your key at another front door on the street and access your room from there. The problem was some customers didnt shut that door, meaning anyone could, in theory get inside - i wasnt a fan of this bit! The room itself was nice, comfy bed and small bath room.

Sixth time staying at max brown canal district Can’t fault it I arrived later than expected due to flight issues arrived around 22:30 was greeted at reception by the male reception staff didn’t catch his name but he was Chelsea fan, I could see I needed a drink so gave me the usual welcome drink then got me booked in then shown me to my room which was 405 which was my first time staying outside rooms back out the reception. Can’t fault the room radiator was on to warm the room Ready for my arrival which was appreciated. Room was clean not too small tv shower kettle. Only issue was someone kept leaving the front door open which could be something to keep watch to keep any unwanted guests from just walking in. Will be back later this year for my 7th stay. You won’t be disappointed booking max brown. See you soon Ryan Manchester

Lovely, trendy bijou hotel

Lovely, trendy bijou hotel. Pretty, quite location but with good access to city and Eurostar. The rooms are very small but cute.

We had an amazing stay at Max Brown in Amsterdam! From the moment we arrived, the experience was seamless—our room was ready just after lunch, which is a rarity for a city hotel. We were warmly welcomed with a drink on arrival, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable stay. The staff were all young, incredibly friendly, and genuinely eager to offer advice and recommendations, which made exploring Amsterdam even better. We booked a small canal view room, but to our surprise, it was anything but small—it was the most spacious room I’ve ever had in Amsterdam. The view, overlooking the intersection of two canals, was everything you imagine about a hotel room view in Amsterdam. The entire hotel was spotless, and the attention to detail was evident throughout. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations, and we’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

Just great !

Stayed at this specific Max Brown Hotel a few times now and can say that the atmosphere , location, staff, cleanliness, breakfast - the check-in, all excellent. I stayed 4 nights this time and loved it. Due to the style of the property (beautiful Heritage building with lots of steep stairs) good to remember when packing to either book a ground floor , pack light or ask for help with bags. Staff were excellent with a really positive vibe and an open, helpful outlook. What I really appreciated is the hotel is clean & well maintained. It’s an older building but despite this there seems to be significant attention paid to keeping things in order. I will stay here again.

Terrible and Expensive

It was carzy expensive, we got the canal view room, and the windows were so full of condensation and black mold, we couldn't see, or want to look out of them. Toilet was minuscule even by European standards, when I want to spit out my toothpaste it landed on the floor because the sink was so tiny! I could go on, but I'm telling you to please spend your $$€€ somewhere else. Two thumbs WAY down!

Phenomenal Staff, Great Location

Charming hotel right on a canal. Staff is excellent, went above and beyond. Location is great for the city. The only negative: there are no elevators and if you are up a flight or two, you will be going up very narrow stairs. Other than that: nice to stay in a hotel with character and charm.

It was fine but wouldn't stay again because the walls are really thin and you can hear the conversations next door. Positives: 10 min walk to centraal station friendly reception team they clean your room during your stay Negatives: You can hear everything going on in the room next door so it's not a great night sleep. You could bring your ear plugs I guess and that might make it bettter
