We checked in the safety deposit was broken and they did not replace it .. in the bathroom. There was only soap no shower cap or cream ,no mouth wash no ,cotton swab. Very poor facility I do not recommend it at all.

The front desk staff was pleasant. I reserved 2 queens, they only had a king with a pull-out. Pull-out did not have any linens or blankets in the room. It took housekeeping forever to bring linens. Pull-out was broken and not usuable. Had to share a bed with my son, he was not pleased. Room was old and smelled like mildew. Did not feel comfortable using the restroom or shower.

When I got there I checked into the first room and there was feces on the side of the toilet. They immediately changed my room and the second room smelled like mold. Also, you have to request that your room is cleaned daily. The front desk staff said that during my stay they are required to tidy the room and cleaning has to be requested. I won’t be staying there again. I like the Westin as a chain but the one in Southfield MI is outdated and dirty.

I was attending a memorial service and the Westin was a short distance away. I also had family living within walking distance so it was really convenient. Check-in was quick and easy, but the parking garage is a bit of a mess. When staff from the nearby buildings are in the office, it can be tough to find a parking spot near the hotel entrance. I arrived at the restaurant right at opening time, and it was very confusing. There are signs asking you to wait to be seated, but then staff at the bar and walking through the restaurant acted like they did not see me standing there. There was a couple already seated when I arrived, so I was not sure what was happening. I was finally seated and then noticed the restaurant seemed short staffed. My server was taking orders, helping at the bar, bussing tables, etc. The good arrived within a reasonable time of ordering. It was hot and filling. Given its convenient location, I'd stay at the Westin again.

I was disappointed with my stay at the Westin Southfield/Detroit. I definitely expected everything to be nicer. First, my room had a terrible smell. Two of the doors were missing on the dresser and there wasn’t a light over/near the shower, so it was very dark. Then, the fire alarm went off at 10:30pm, and everyone was told to evacuate the building via the stairs. I got down to the 2nd floor (from the 9th) before someone announced that it was a false alarm. Not necessarily the hotel’s fault, but this was very annoying when I was already in bed for the night. Lastly, the food I ordered from room service was terrible. I paid $30 for a tiny, fake (Tropicana) orange juice, a cheap plain bagel with a tiny container of cream cheese and a yogurt parfait. I expected much better from a Westin hotel. I will not be staying there again.
