Love it here

This is our second stay at the rock reef and love the hotel. We had a unit with a kitchen this time and must admit despite being quiet a bit more expensive they are nowhere near as modern as the newly renovated studio rooms so would probably opt for this in the future. We love the beach area and pool is nice and warm. We will be back.

Ashley and Ed were both very friendly and made our stay wonderful. Place was clean and laid back atmosphere. Don’t believe all reviews as this is not a major hotel. A beautiful getaway to forget about all aspects of the world. Saw a couple crocodiles with the help of Ed. Great guy. Sunsets are amazing. We got lucky and saw a dolphin one evening also. Will return for sure. Book it!!’

Wow! This place is a gem! It's exactly what lodging in the Keys should be. Walk to the beautiful beach. Free amenities. It's so secluded, tucked away. A great price! I hope the word doesn't get on this place- I'm definitely coming back!

From the moment I checked in until I checked out, I was treated like a member of the family! Ashley at the desk was extremely friendly and shared her fun sense of humor with us. Our queen room was upgraded to a king suite(!) for unknown reasons! The pool area was clean, there were kayaks available for us to use, the property was well maintained and had apparently undergone recent renovations! Sitting by the beach and pool offered serenity and peace! This small family owned resort is tops on my list of places to revisit! Thank you Ashley and company for a great experience!

When reviewing properties to secure on Expedia, I believe this property came up as of 9.2. that’s pretty impressive. The property is aged. I’m sure the owners are doing the best they can to keep it clean and up-to-date and I respect that. However, the rooms are outdated -they’re worn. The pictures of the beach— well let’s just say they’re overstated. Just the suggestions that we have alligators on the property why you’re even sitting by the water. The chairs and tables near the water are beat up dirty and old just replacing these would’ve been a plus. The pool area was very adequate-but there are no restrooms around the pool area, so you have to walk back to your cabin or room. I guess to be fair I could say that at least I was not back in 40° weather, but this property was a bit less than I expected for the price I paid. There must be a better way to rate properties because this nice place is certainly not the 9.2 I would expect with one of the new more modern hotels.

Do not sleep on this AMAZING property!!! This little Keysie spot is absolutely wonderful! From the first greeting to the last good-bye the staff and owner were delightful and so helpful! The property itself is absolutely beautiful! From the pool are to your own private beach, Palapa and table out on the end of the dock to watch the sunset. The rooms were spotless! Bed very comfortable! Shower spotless! Plus the convenience of having a full sized fridge and kitchen in the room made it so much more convenient. I would give this property 100 stars if I could!
