The rooms were boiling hot and full of old, yucky furniture and had no air-con. Felt like a youth hostel. Absolutely not worth the price. Do not go here.
This was more of a budget hotel with very few amenities, very spartan, two twin beds in a very small room. In the lobby they had no seating, chairs, or couches. Tiny bathroom with a sink so small that it was a joke. I know it's Central London, but this would have been a good hotel for $139 a night, not for $300 a night. I got misled by at least one online travel review site about the Royal National.

Check in nightmare but good overall
Check in was a nightmare. Totally understaffed and inefficient. Rooms were comfortable and ideal location.
I stayed recently with my husband and our son. Check in was smooth and straightforward. The rooms are clean and relativity spacious but quite uncomfortable in the August heat as there is no air conditioning. We were given a small table fan but it didn't make much difference. The beds were fairly comfortable.
Breakfast was well organised despite how busy it was. I'd like to see some more vegetarian options but that's personal preference.
Our room was at the front of the hotel so it was quite noisy at night with the road traffic and the pub especially as it was a warm evening. My son struggled to slerp. Other than that our stay was pleasant but not sure I'd return in the summer heat.

Ideal place to stay so close to everything we wanted to go visit
The room and bathroom was clean and we felt safe in the hotel. Breakfast was good. Our only challenge was the lack of air movement in the room. We knew there was no air conditioning but it was hot and the room was very stuffy without any sort of fan making the room challenging to sleep in at night. Overall the hotel was great, just something to be aware of for summer.

Disliked: Amenities
The rooms don’t have air conditioning. They don’t have fans or exhaust fans in the bathroom. This leads to a hot and humid room.
