Looks can be and often are deceiving
So when we arrived we thought about how good our luck was. The hotel is grand and it's reasonably priced what a steal for the price. Then things started to turn, it started out with small inconveniences the TV didn't have any English channels nor was there a provide streaming service which you could watch things dubbed on. This could be ignored however, then it escalated the cleaners didn't come when they were supposed to, the neighbours were noisy outside and inside the building late into the evening past midnight. When I would later speak to hotel staff about this they asked why I didn't go to reception and report it, and when I explained that I didn't want to cause trouble with the neighbours and that they may find out it was us who complained and retaliate, the staff looked on blankly.
The very peak came when the hotel had a scheduled blackout for an hour which they didn't tell us about prior to booking and we only found out about through signage. During this hour we had to ascend the stairs in near darkness, there was no lit up emergency exit sign or anything of the sort and the food that we had in the freezer was exposed to an hour of being in the elements.
Everyone staying at the hotel during this time should have been emailed before they arrived informing them of this.
Anyway I complained during my stay and they offered me a partial refund so I am giving them a middling score as they did make an effort to make it right, if they hadn't they get 1 star.
