We have heard great things about this resort. Unfortunately our experience here was not all that great. The check in took over 1 hour, after we checked in we went up to an employee and his response to our questions was I don’t know various times. Did not try to help or look for someone to help us. We went to the pool on two occasions and instead of it being a family friendly pool we ran into a lot of uneducated people, people inappropriately dancing very loud music on speakers. Our kids and my husband and I were relaxing in the lower areas of the pool and there were children running all over the pool jumping and hurting other people and parents nor anyone was reprimanding these children. They were rough housing and it was just a very bad situation and not once did we see anyone try and deescalate these behaviors. The life guards were honestly not even bothered by it. A lot of people around were very bothered and concerned these other children were knocking others down and falling on top of others. It was honestly a bit ghetto as well. Unfortunately I do not think we will be coming back.

Only have 2 issues with staying on Universal property and one of them is with this resort specifically. I believe parking should be free for all hotel guests. Cabana Bay has a small lazy river on resort, which is pretty cool. However, they do not provide and tubes for guests. Instead, they would sell you tubes or you can bring your own and they will fill it up for you. You are either packing a tube from home, or packing one to go home with. Most people traveling nowadays, only travels with a carry-on packed to the max. No room for extra inner tubes.

This is by far the worst Universal Property we have ever stayed at. If you want BUDGET this place is for you. Otherwise pay the extra and stay across the street. That was our fourth trip to Universal and so far we’ve stayed at Sapphire Falls and the Royal Pacific Hotel. We decided to stay across the street this time at Cabana Bay because it was about $1000 less than our regular hotel, that we love, Sapphire Falls. When we got there, we checked in we went to our room and it smelled of old moldy basement and the bathroom smelled like sewage so we asked for a new room. We were brought up one flight to the room directly above ours, and the smell was just as bad up there. There was no ventilation at all in the room that we had. It was musty. It was dark. The bedsheets had stains on them. There were a pile of cigarette butts left in the stairwell of our exterior entry room. The heat was about 103° and we were on the fourth floor of an exterior entry room and the elevator was broke three out of the five days that we stayed there. The phone was broken so we couldn’t call the front desk. There was a woman in the room next to us arguing with the cleaning staff and the staff was laughing in her face. The food is the same throughout your stay and there are not a lot of options. When I complained to the desk they had a generic “we will Comp your parking” response. I was told to meet the manager for a new room and he never came out. I had to ask a luggage attendant who gave me the key.

I like that they have free shuttles that run every 15 minutes to the universal studios. I like that the have refillable cups, the food was good, and the pool areas were fun. Everyone was also nice and welcoming.
