Excellent experience for our stay in Rome. Great location. Room was fantastic. Our only compliant was that the pillows and beds were a little stiff. Hosts were excellent and very helpful.

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for anyone wanting to walk to and from Termini station. It's a relatively easy walk to the Colosseum and a relatively easy walk to most restaurants in the area. The property is not fancy but location wise it is worth the stay. The complementary breakfast in the morning as a bonus and will save you a few dollars on your vacation.

Merulana Inn is a small "guest house" in the Esquilino neighborhood of Rome. Located just a few feet (meters) down the road from St Mary Major, it is a convenient stay if all you're looking for is a place to rest in between your explorations of the Eternal City. My family and I stayed here during the Jubilee (2025), and found it quiet and cozy. There are plenty of dining options around the neighborhood, and there is daily mass at St. Alphonsus (around the corner) and St Mary Major (down the street). Be aware that being a guest house--there are only 6 rooms from what I can tell--staff is only onsite during specific times. If you need to get a hold of the staff, who are very friendly and helpful, they can be reached via Whatsapp.

The staff were excellent. Karen in particular was willing to work with our needs, such as having some breakfast items available for early departure. Because it is a B&B and not a hotel, the sign can be easily missed. Also, odd and even number addresses are on the same side of the street. Do not confuse with the similarly named Merulana Guesthouse.

I stayed at Hotel Merulana from June 20–25 and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is in a fantastic location — walking distance to major sites like the Colosseum and Santa Maria Maggiore, and surrounded by charming restaurants and cafes. The room was spotless, quiet, and comfortably furnished with modern touches like USB charging ports and strong Wi-Fi. The bed was cozy, and the air conditioning worked perfectly during the hot summer days. What really stood out was the exceptional service. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and always available with great local tips. They made me feel truly cared for. Breakfast was simple but fresh and satisfying, with good coffee and a nice variety of pastries and fruit. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful and well-maintained, giving it a boutique charm. I highly recommend Hotel Merulana for anyone visiting Rome. It’s a perfect blend of comfort, location, and outstanding hospitality. I’ll definitely return on my next trip to the city.

We stayed 4 nights when we came to Rome. We had a busy schedule sightseeing and wanted a simple place. The location is great - a half-block from St. Mary Majeure Basilica), with food and bus stop nearby. Termini Station is about a 10-15 minute walk. Karin was wonderful and helpful with information. Lighting could be better when you get off the elevator at night. Breakfast was good. Overall, nice stay.
