I had read reviews, but had no idea of the questionable neighborhood. There were homeless camps nearby, and homeless people asked for money outside the front door. I thought that due to the proximity to the Financial district, we would have a decent place to stay. Part of the neon on the sign on the hotel was burned out. There were no amenities. Luckily, we were able-bodied because we hauled out suitcases up three flights of stairs. There was a very questionable night club on the main floor. Police sirens were constantly going by outside. I barely slept, worrying that our room would be broken into.
