I recently stayed at Antico Panada Hotel in Venice, and my experience was quite mixed. The check-in process was smooth, with a friendly gentleman in the lobby who was very accommodating. However, I was surprised to be directed to a different building. This wasn’t a major issue for me, but I did find it inconvenient that the elevator only started from the (European) first floor, (second floor in USA) requiring the bellboy to carry my bags up.
The room itself had a few maintenance issues, but nothing too bothersome. Unfortunately, the next morning's breakfast left much to be desired. The selection was poor, the space felt cramped, and the coffee machine was a disaster, making it difficult to enjoy a simple morning cup. It also seemed that the hotel didn’t have enough staff to handle the breakfast rush.
Checkout was particularly frustrating. They don’t have personal until 9:30 am to help me with my luggage. Of course I did it by myself. When I asked to check out my room and mentioned that I would leave the key in the room, the gentleman in the lobby insisted that I had to return the key to him personally. He wouldn’t accept any excuses and expected me to carry three pieces of luggage and a backpack to the other building just to hand in that insignificant item. Overall, while the hotel has potential, the service and amenities need significant improvement.
