Positives: Convenient location directly above Train Station, so arriving on a late evening train was just a short walk away.
12 pm check-out.
Room service efficient, nice food.
Negatives: 20 mins to check-in (not queueing, this was at the desk), was quicker to check-in on Eurostar. Pre-check in was sent evening before arrival (whilst were still travelling) even though I'd booked hotel months in advance. After a long day of travelling this was the last thing we wanted.
Room layout very poor with wash basins effectively in the bedroom, just a screen separator. Zero privacy.
Hairs on the bathroom floor and shower tray.
Constant running water noise in bathroom from other peoples rooms (sinks, toilets etc) with zero soundproofing between bathroom and bedroom, with just a pathetic sliding door with a grubby handle.
Shower tile grouting full of mould.
Cleaner knocking on door in morning before we'd even checked out.
I'm sorry I paid a 4-star price for 2-star experience. I have stayed in better Novotels and Ibis for half the price. I chose this hotel because of convenience and paid extra for it.
I have never posted a negative comment for a hotel stay before but unfortunately this experience compelled me do so. I aired my concerns at check-out but felt they fell of deaf ears, with only a couple of concerned glances from reception staff.
I hope the hotel can take these comments and use them constructively.
