We had a very nice stay. The koi ponds were so neat around the resort. It is not the absolute newest, but it is clean. If we stay in San Diego again we would definitely return. It is walking distance to shopping, food, drinks and most importantly the beach.

The room was clean and staff was friendly. But like a lot have commented, it needs an update. Everything seems very tired and worn out. Also, the ‘two’ restaurants and pretty much the same thing that doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be. Would be wise to have one more ‘upscale’ dining with nice meal options and another more ‘pub’ or cafe style dining.

I was so worried about my reservation after reading more reviews as many complain about the age/deterioration of the hotel property. However, I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. I think some people just don’t understand how hard being so close to the ocean and humidity can be on buildings. Of course the rooms could use a major facelift considering how expensive it is nightly. But it’s perfectly acceptable & accommodating, especially w/ the kitchenette, large balcony, & amazing views. We checked in early w/out trouble, it was amazing! The grounds are well-maintained & simply beautiful. Perfect tropical feeling, like your own personal oasis. The pool & hot tub were great size & seating was sufficient considering it wasn’t very busy when we visited (Nov20). I could see this being an issue during busier months. Towels were easily accessible & they even let you take them to the beach. Everyone I interacted with were super nice & helpful. The cafe prices are a bit high: a sm bottle of kombucha was $8, & reg drip coffee was $5 - same price as a latte. Also, the room svc/pool menu is limited & didn’t ever seem to suit our needs. We were in the Tower: 11th floor (elevators were perfectly functional). View was impeccable of both the bay & ocean in the distance. The beds/pillows were a bit too firm, bathroom very small and def had a smell to it. All that said, I would definitely return. The ambiance is wonderful & resort feel was exactly what we were looking for.

old windows (which were one complete wall of my room) did not stop drafts or noise. And they wheeled laundry carts on the cobblestones below until 11 pm and began again at 6 am. It was awful.
