Room was excellent in size and cleanliness. Staff was also very courteous and helpful most of the time. The dining room staff was outstanding. The one major faux pas was that my misplaced her walking cane somewhere in the hotel during our initial check in. We were staying for four nights but the cane was not found. However, two days later, we received an email indicating they had located the cane. The message did not indicate where the item was located but we were leaving Japan in two days so that notification was of no consequence. I tried to respond to their message but was not able to do so in English, although the message from the hotel was written in both Japanese and English.

Big onsen hotel with comfortable, spacious rooms and two onsens to choose from. The location is convenient to Takayama train station and the main city sights. We ate one meal in the hotel restaurants, though was much more pricey than local options. Bite you note to make dinner reservations here as well as might be advised to do for restaurants in town if you have particular places you want to try.

We had a Japanese style room, and because there are no beds (they put out futons each night for us to sleep on), it was roomy by Japanese standards. The other good thing was the onsen (public bath), which we used daily. The downside is the location, in a newer area about a 20 minute walk from most of the sights and restaurants.

This is a very nice resort hotel. They have quite attentive staff and lots of amenities. The 4 person room was large enough for the three of us to spread out our three very comfy futon beds. Plus there were proper chairs and a small table by the windows. It also had a fridge and water kettle. The hotel has two onsens, one open to the public. The one for hotel guests is in the basement and has items for free whereas the public one on the main floor charges for items like a hairbrushes. There’s a huge souvenir shop and several restaurants. If you go over a holiday book ahead. We were there the night before Culture Day (November 3) and every one was booked up. Fortunately there’s a 7/11 across the street as the local restaurants were closed. The only con was the massage. They are done in the entrance to the public onsen with no separation like a screen or curtains. So it’s quite noisy. The massage itself was just okay. Still nice after a long day of travel, but a soak in the onsen was just as effective.

The only thing lacking was a bar open past 5 that wasn’t inside a restaurant. It would have been nice if the lounge stayed open. Not a big deal of course. Everything else was perfect!!! I could live there. The souvenir shop was the BEST. I wanted everything.

Staff were the best. Absolutely treated the guests like royalty. The suite was fantastic with the open air onsen and wooden bath. The toilet was worth mentioning... Fully automatic. The dinner was above and beyond and so much food we could barely eat it all. So fantastic! Breakfast was the best there is. Only bad thing is we couldn't eat the 2nd morning because we had to catch a train and the breakfast is not until 7am. All else was superior. Nice store across the street with great deals 500 yen for big pack of face masks. The gift shop was fully stocked with all the souvenirs and gifts you could want. I absolutely will return to this town and this hotel. Side note don quijote is still being built so double check before you make the walk.

Excellent hotel. Fantastic rooms, top-notch service and two great onsens included. Breakfast is wonderful, full with options. There are 5 restaurants insidd the hotel and and one of the best souvenir stores we have seen in Japan. 10/10
