The staff were very friendly and helpful. When we checked in, we received two bags full of juice and goodies as a welcome gift. We were allowed a late checkout and free transportation to the airport. The room was clean and had a kettle, 4 bottles of free water/day, coffee, tea, and sugar. The hotel is only a 10 min walk to night bazaar. It is close to a 7-11 and lots of restaurants and massage places. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The breakfasts where little underwhelming and all the meals we ate in the hotel where not up to what we expected in the quality of hotel. The hotel and room was excellent just disappointed in food.

We were given the old Empress Hotel. The room really needs updating. The electrical switches were broken. We had to call them to fix one of the switch. Bathroom had a tub which is so outdated. Very small bathroom. Not sure why they did not give us the new Empress building room.

This is a fine 4 star hotel. It provides great bang foe the buck. The welcome gift is a very nice surprise. However, they need to upgrade the food. I had dinner at their restaurant, and the food took about an hour. When it came, the pad thai was cold and the pizza was dried up, leading me to think they were perhaps prepared elsewhere and delivered to the hotel. When I told the staff that the food was cold, the waitress heated it up using a microwave. When I later stayed at their sister hotel "Empress Premier" I noticed they offer same menu but the food was hot and fresh. I noticed similar quality difference with breakfast buffet also. Overall, staying at this hotel was still very pleasant, especially at its price point

My stay at Empress Hotel was a most wonderful experience. Empress is located in a beautiful and safe city, Chiang Mai, and it's close to EVERYTHING. You can walk to many restaurants, and the major markets are all within a walking distance. The people of Chiang Mai are friendly, and the cost of living is low. The staff are so friendly and courteous. My birthday fell during my stay at Empress, and they lavished me with so many gifts! What an experience. I thank the staff for the outstanding hospitality.
