Our group had two rooms- the garden cabana and a “deluxe ocean view”. We specifically booked a room with a kitchenette because one of our party members has severe food allergies only to find that the kitchenette had absolutely no cooking utensils and as such was not usable. That felt like false advertising. I tried to contact the hotel for months to modify our reservation (within the confines of their policy), but I didn’t hear back from them. When I tried to discuss the issue upon arrival, the staff was extremely rude. They made me wait in the lobby for 90 minutes only to inform me that the sum taffy I needed to speak with actually wasn’t there. One of the beds in the cabana really wasn’t a bed. That is mentioned on their description, but I didn’t expect it to be so uncomfortable. Sometimes there was hot water, often there was not. The beds in our “deluxe ocean view” rooms were hanging off the platform by about ten inches (photo) so it was very easy to accidentally roll off. Lastly, the restaurant tried to shortchange us by $10. It felt very intentional. To get into San Miguel, it was a ten dollar cab each way. I would never go back to this place; I’m surprised it has decent reviews. It felt like a complete waste of money…
