Poor experience

Pay disappointed in the Made service as they never did our room and when we showed up in the evening, our used towels were still on the floor, not replaced. We went to the front desk. They tried to hand us off the towels, and we told them we needed Kleenex as well. They wanted us to grab it and bring up our self. We asked them to bring it to our room, please. When we showed up, they still didn’t take the dirty towels off the floor in the room. Also, I thought it was quite rude that you would not extend an hour or two for a later check out on a weekday. A charge for a late chart checkout is not reasonable at a room for 300 a night. When we arrived for breakfast, most of the three mornings, we had a shortage of food items There were no coffee cups only paper I don’t believe your hotel should be rated as a four-star hotel either

Efficient check in, clean well designed large room with nice touches like ironing board and hair dryer. Free coffee machines in lobby a great touch. And a top location near the centre. No parking close by but not the fault of the hotel.

The building used to be student housing . . . so the room I stay was so small and no space to sit around . . . I have to go downstairs hall way near reception area to sit and work on my computer.

Loved the hotel but would prefer kettle in room. A bit chaotic at breakfast, not nearly enough staff. The young girl who showed us to our table in the mornings was run off her feet, but still had a big smile on her face and was always pleasant!!!!’

Loved the location for a quick few days in Edinburgh. Close to Panda & Son's, Rose street, Grassmarket, Johnnie Walker and Edinburgh Castle. Staff made an awesome recommendation of the Sunday Straw Market. Extremely close and great experience!! Would definitely book again.

Charged £300 a night for 2 star style hotel

From the moment I entered this hotel, the service was extremely poor. The reception staff were chatting among themselves and ignoring guests. My room wasn’t ready even though I had requested an early check-in. They asked me to wait, and after an hour, the room was still not ready. When I went back to the reception to ask again, they finally found me a room, but only after I paid an extra £20. So, my one night stay ended up costing £302. At that price, I expected an amazing room, but instead, it was horrible and really run down. They didn’t even provide basic amenities like shower caps or cotton buds, the little extras you expect in a hotel charging that much per night. There was no kettle in the room; instead, you had to use a hot water machine in the bar, which had filthy mugs. I’m furious that I spent that much money. The whole experience and the sleep was horrible.
This is how the brand new towels were left! Gave the illusion that someone may of used it.

Maybe it was just this price because of the fringe festival, but this was more of a $100 a night place tops. Beds were like a pile of rocks, could hear doors slamming closed up and down the halls at 7am, elevators out of service. The staff was lovely and everything was clean, but if the price had been much lower I would have been happier.

Good Hotel

The rooms are small and the bathroom is made up of a cubicle for the toilet and a cubicle for the shower which are in the bedroom. No door to the bathroom. You can't separate the lights for the WC only. Not well thought out. Bed was comfortable but small. 4'6" Staff were all nice

Room with the subterranean view

It was a late booking and we were offered a special needs room (bigger, and a hospital type bathroom without a separation between toilet and shower) or a room without a window (is that legal?). The room was below ground level of hotel entrance, beside the wheelchair ramp. If you tried hard, you could almost see the sky! A big noisy in the am. We were asked to pay right at book-in. Unusual. We were told since we booked the cheapest room ($400 CDN/night!) we didn't have much choice. It was the only room available at Hotels.com by the way. A few other things were a bit different but manageable.

Very good

Warm welcome on arrival with a busy reception area. Given all the information we required and offered a reduced price on breakfast which we took advantage of. Free tea and coffee on offer beside reception/bar which was a nice touch. Room was perfect for our needs and contained everything you might require such as hairdryer, iron and ironing board, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The bed was super comfy and the bed linen was crisp, clean and fresh. Towels were super fluffy and the room and hotel in general was very clean. We enjoyed our breakfast with the usual offerings just be aware the room is not very big so you may have to wait for a table . A great stay and will def use again .
