The front entrance to the hotel was nice and so were the staff ( was able to get me a bucket of ice the 1st night) - but the rooms need a little work. I asked twice for the air conditioning to be looked at, but the thermostat flashed with an error the whole time. The ironing board fell right out of the wall, it looked as though it had been reattached many times. The small twin side room had no outlets and we had problems getting wifi on that side as well. The window on the double side did not stay open, so with not working AC and a window that wouldn't stay open, we had to stick our metal bottles in the window to keep it open. My window faces the pub, so hours of listening to the pub throw out bottles and kegs.

The hotel looks nothing like the photos. The outside is gorgeous, and the first floor is renovated and gives the impression that this is a fancy hotel. Once you take the elevator to your room, it is completely disappointing. Stale smell in the hallways, stains on the carpets and walls. Our room was incredibly tiny for two twin beds, looking nothing like the photo. The standing shower was also very tiny. It honestly resembled a small hostel dorm. We paid $285 CAD for a one-night stay, and it was not worth it at all.
Thank goodness the hotel rooms have AC and elevators, is a very short walk from Lancaster Gate tube stop and right across from Hyde Park Italian Fountain. The staffs are friendly and helpful. A great hotel choice for sightseeing!

I initially booked a single occupancy room to reduce the cost. Due to the hot weather when I arrived they advised I upgrade my room to one with aircon. I only had to pay an extra £10 each night. The room itself was small but working aircon. Decor a bit old and tired. Bathroom fairly modern. I had breakfast included in my room fare. Standard breakfast cereal, miniature pastries, fruit salad, cheeses and fry up. Overall, okay option on a budget but I understand there have been some poor reviews.
The only reason I didn’t put excellent, because of a very very noisy generator, our friends moved in the night after calling reception and we asked to be moved in the morning. Both couples had very bad interrupted sleep. The staff were excellent in dealing with us.
The hotel staff were excellent and helpful, our rooms were clean and comfortable.
It was a shame our first night was disturbed by a generator.

When checking in, the concierge talked about how he was finding a "quiet" room away from all of the busy streets and promised it was a special room. The room, whilst not facing any streets, was instead facing a large generator which ran all through the night and was impossible to sleep through. To add to this, the windows were not capable of closing fully and so the sound was inescapable.

We arrived at the Hotel around noon to learn they were having electrical issues. The staff and lobby were very nice. We were assured the electrical issue would be resolved shortly. So, we checked our luggage and decided to go meet friends as we had planned. Upon returning at 8pm, the electricity was still out in the guest rooms. We were assigned a room on the seventh floor and as the elevator door opened, the hallway was dark and a young man with a lantern escorted us to our room. The room was nice, but we decided we did not want to wait to see if the electricity would be restored. We needed to charge our phones, shower, etc and felt the electricity issue was also a safety concern. We inquired as to if there was a room available on the first or second floor and were told they were completely booked. We also learned from another guest that the electricity had been out since midnight the previous day. We asked for a refund and moved to a nearby hotel without electrical issues at 10pm in the evening. The second hotel cost considerably more- this was a hassle and unexpected expense.

Having asked for a room that was quiet I was allocated room 833 which has an air conditioning unit (or something!) which hummed loudly all night. It was outside the room so nothing I could control. I have never been in such a small hotel room!
Hotel is very conveniently placed but hugely dated
Shower only ran hot with the mixer not working to cool the temperature and was dreadfully underwhelming when it came
To water pressure
AC was broken and room was extremely warm.
On the plus side the room was large, bed was comfortable and spotlessly clean
A great stay, fantastic location on the edge of Hyde Park, close to Lancaster Gate tube station. Ate in the hotel and the food was good value. All in all would definitely return next time we go to London.
