Nice place

Great location, nice room. It was a tiny bit warm. They don't have their own parking, but public parking is very convenient and very affordable. Definitely worth the stay.

The front desk staff are very helpful and nice, everything that one would want to do in Monterey is within walking distance so it’s very convenient, and the Deluxe rooms are very cozy!!

Very comfortable restored property. The windows are thin and the streets were noisy so ear plugs are beneficial. Fantastic, attentive staff!! Walkable to the Old Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row. Would definitely stay here again.

Zero parking. Not advertised that they do not have parking. No fridge inside room. Had to get ice and keep things cold in bathroom sink., so? Brushing teeth in bathtub. No outlets. Had to make coffee on the floor. No shampoo . All kind of weird to be honest

A higher review would have been warranted had it not been for the lower level room window not secured. We could not lock the window. You can easily slide the glass window from outside to open it. It wasn't broken but management neglected to see that it had no lock mechanism available. We did not leave the room with our personal belongings in it. We informed the Front Desk. How long has it been this way.

Love the charm

This hotel has lots of character and antique charm. It’s located walking distance to the wharf and lots of food nearby. The staff was all super friendly and cheerful. The topper on the cake was that they are also dog friendly!

This hotel is perfectly located downtown and a good value. It’s a step above a motel, but on par with some big chain hotels like La Quinta or best western. The property could use a little updating, and they don’t offer daily room tidying. Overall I’d stay here again because the location cannot be beat.

Rooms are pretty bad

Rooms are bad. Mine was an interior room with no windows to outside. My windows instead were to a hallways with lots of light the blinds could not keep out. And a lot of noise came in including the sound of seagulls early in the morning. The air conditioner heater dial was manual and not precise, so the room was far too hot the whole night. They need to fix these issues. Had horrible sleep :(

The hotel nice and clean and the front desk staff was very friendly. Hotel is conveniently located around restaurants and shops. The only problem is the noise inside the property. You can hear all the noise and footsteps from the next rooms and floor. The rooms are not properly insulated from noise. We couldn’t sleep because of that.

The Monterey hotel stay

Great location to downtown Monterey. Staff was very friendly. The hotel was built in 1909, it kind of had a cool spooky feel to it. Would definitely stay again on my next visit. My only complaint is the valet price is high and you really need to valet. It didn’t feel safe to leave our car on the street.
