It is very old and showing a lot of wear . Holes in the walls and the desk chair has a big hole and it’s broken. We didn’t have towels for two people. Didn’t feel safe.

Red Lion Governor’s Hotel way past due remodeling

We planned to stay at this hotel for a week, but had to check out the next day because of numerous issues. No air conditioners and heat in mid April, not only in our room, which was above 80 degrees, but the whole hotel, except for lobby and the elevator. On top of that, the light bulb in bathroom was the heating bulb. There’s no way to air the room, because the huge sliding door only opens with a lot of effort for 3 in and without the mosquito screen. Rooms are more neglected than shabby with torn comforters, dirty bedding, peeling wall and ceiling plaster, cobwebs etc. Homeless people wondering about.

This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. NO AC, it smells, shower tub was chipped in so many places and after a quick shower, the water didn't want to drain. The most annoying part is that the staff is fully aware the AC is not working and trying to play it off stating that eventually the AC will kick in but in the meantime here's a fan. Just an awful place to stay..

You know those exaggeratedly gross hotels in horror movies? The kind with hourly rates and all the creepy down-and-out crowd milling about outside? Well, that hotel, no matter how bad it looked on screen, would be an improvement over The Red Lion Governor's Hotel. The room was not properly cleaned, it smelled faintly of urine, there was a piece of gum (un chewed) on the un vacuumed (or poorly vacuumed) floor. For some reason I do not want to know there was a wadded up piece of toilet paper stuffed in the hole where the doors security peephole should be. The tub was filthy (dark brown stains i assume are dirt?) and had 3 inches of standing water as the tub faucet leaked, and the drain plug would not stay open on its own. The bathroom ceiling was water damaged and falling down in one corner with bits of plaster on the floor, and zero bathroom ventilation let it's one brief use linger and mingle with the rest of the rooms delights. The TV remote was sticky and had someone's long red hair sticking out of the battery compartment. Their was no ac, even when the 1970s style thermostat was on "cool" the vent blew stale, warm air. None of the buildings rear exterior doors (to parking access) were working so you had to walk around the front of the building. View of capital lake was nice but otherwise this place should be avoided at all costs. No, this place should also be avoided even at no cost. Honestly, this place should just be avoided.

We always stay at the historic Governor Hotel when we visit Olympia. The location is excellent, views of the Capital Lakes beautiful, continental breakfast offers good choices, staff are always friendly and helpful.

We got there, (family of four) andbthey only gave us one towel. We went to the front desk and asked about more towels and they said they have a towel shortage. Really?? The room was clean but the hvac didnt work and the exhaust fan in the bathroom didnt work. The tub was nasty looking. It was painted and the paint was peeling off of it and my 12 year old son would shower in it because it looked so gross. The parking lot was party central, tons of weed and people partying in their cars. The location is amazing but its a bad place to stay

I think with some more TLC, this place could get a higher rating. The beds were comfortable and rooms did not smell like old smoke, which sometimes occurs in older hotels. The tubs were painted over and the paint was peeling which dated the hotel and shows that Red Lion is not willing to replace them. The floors in the rooms were not cleaned. Both rooms had trash left behind - scraps of paper or tissue, a bread tie, and a partially empty plastic water bottle. We cleaned those up to leave it better than we found it. This is the 3rd or 4th older Red Lion that could use more attention. I should have payed more and got a better hotel. There breakfast was skimpy so we went out for breakfast the second day. I'll not be staying at a Red Lion again.
