I am not Japanese so I am reviewing this hotel from a foreigner's cultural perspective.
We had hoped for a serene onsen hotel. This was certainly not that.
The architecture was 1970's soviet gulag style on the outside and Butlins on the inside.
It was brightly lit and noisey
The onsen was more like a municiple swimming pool. It did have views out over the steaming fumeroles but the glass was so steamy you couldn't see it.
The breakfast was pretty inedible for a reasonably adventerous Irish man. The fish and pickles were good but the eggs were under cooked and the sausages were raw. Also, no bread, just pastries. The coffee was good. The dining room was like a 1980's factory canteen.
And it was very expensive!
I have stayed in much better onsen for much less elsewhere in Japan
