Room wasn't to standards. AC didnt work room was so hot. Room smell like cigarettes smoked. Day one they didn't give card for towels.2nd day they give me the card but never tell me we had to get cards back even do l return the towels. So at the end l had to pay for them.

Even though we had a baby and no other reservations, we were turned away from a restaurant we had reservations at because I was wearing flip flops. We told the staff clearly we had no other reservations (and hence would be difficult to find food late in the evening), had a baby with us, and were not carrying any other shoes as this was supposed to be a quick weekend trip. They still refused to make an exception.

We stayed at Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda for one night before checking into our residence at The Fives the next day. Never again! We waited over an hour just to check in, and immediately after that, we were ambushed by a staff member trying to aggressively sell us a timeshare. Too much pressure for guests who just want to relax. When we tried to reserve a restaurant for dinner, we were bluntly told, “You’re only here for one night, so you don’t qualify.” Very strange, considering our package included all-inclusive, and the hotel should have honored that. The food was disappointing..."Cuban-style"a-very limited. The buffet had no seafood, no fresh fruit, and the desserts tasted like they came from a Montreal Walmart. The next morning at 8am, I went looking for a decent coffee and was shocked to find out the only coffee shop opens at 10am! We finally made it there at 4pm...and yes, the coffee was actually good. The beach was full of seaweed, but the beachside pool was lively. Towels are given out with cards, and you really don’t want to lose them, they make it a whole process if you do. The room was clean and spacious, a bit worn down by time, but the bed was comfortable. In short: we were glad it was only one night.

Poor management of personnel and assets. Annoying sales people. 2x the number of sales people than workers in the ULTRA HOT lobby. Never heard of fans. Expect to sweat there for at least an hour on arrival and an hour on departure. The black and white bar is a sweat tunnel. Most of the staff was friendly and doing the best management would allow. The drinks were sub-par begining to end, albiet plentyful. The food in the buffet is lower in quality than Golden Corral. So if you like that then you will be fine. The French and Itialian resturants are the only saving grace. Book them as offen as you can. They will enforce rules intermittantly. Evedently crocks are considered sandals. Our first room was by the water, but the awful smell gave us headaches and kept us up at night. They moved rooms but it was difficult and seened to put the staff "out".The upgraded steak "prime rib" was not as good as the steaks on the menu. And it was a 25$ upgrade. It wasnt even prime rib and it was 1/2 inch thick. The beds were OK. All seem exactly the same and upgraded rooms were not worth it unless you got the swim up rooms. THE POOL CLOSES AT 7. EXACTLY LIKE GET TF OUT THE POOL RIGHT NOW!!! Annoying should be open to a minimum of 10 PM. Understaffed night time bars saw lines, all bars. But we made the best of it. We had fun but kids run the resort at all hours of the night. Not a quiet and romantic resort to relax. Most can be ignored because of dirt cheap prices. Bargin basement resort.

good service, cleaning at the highest level, delicious food but there is a huge minus with the beach!! There is a lot of seaweed on the shore and the water is not blue as in the picture but black and dirty!! There is a smell throughout the hotel from the seaweed that fills the beach!! We have a ruined vacation! I do not recommend and will not come here again!!! There is a hotel nearby with the same problem!! No one swam in the sea!

This is got to be the worst place I’ve ever stayed at in my life and I travel 60% of the time. The service was horrible. The food was not edible. The grounds smelled like seaweed and Sargon and manure everywhere you went. The people that worked there were constantly trying to Lie to you to get more money out out of you for anything and everything. It was the biggest scam ever. I would not recommend this place to anybody. In fact, I think it should be condemned and shut down.

We stayed for six days and only got three rides on the golf carts; they cater to the “member” (time share owners). It’s advertised as family friendly but there was inappropriate dancing, language, and one woman was sitting topless at the pool until a staff member finally told her to put her top back on. They did a foam party in the pool and try to create a party scene. There are not enough chairs around the pool so you have to get there early to save seats. There is not much shade either so you have to get there earlier for those seats. Most are taken by about 9:00am. They took 4 hours of one of my mornings to try and sell me on becoming a member but I finally got out of the meeting (while remaining friendly). The food is okay. There’s not much Mexican food? I had a little bit of money in my wallet (that I kept in my room) and one day I found my bag tipped over on the floor and the bills missing so I would use the safe. Overall the staff were very friendly, but I would use the safe in the room.

Wonderful property and great holiday. Sounds like we were lucky with a nice room in one of the newer refurbished units. Pools and restaurants were great. Smelly seaweed on the beach did not really bother us as pools were so good. Our only negative point was the ridiculous and absolutely unnecessary queues upon arrival to be checked in. We saw these queues every day. For god sake get some more check in staff !!!!!

The staff absolutely made the vacation. Every single person was so friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed special attention and personal service from the waiters and waitresses at the Festival Restaurant as well as Jaal-Ha Restaurant, the two buffet style places. The rooms where meticulously cleaned and restocked every day. Thank you very much! We did not participate in the sales presentation as we didn't feel any upgrade would be worth the price. The food did leave us somewhat disappointed, as it was pretty much the same thing everyday, except when you made reservations for the A la Carte, which was just okay. If you like to party, this is the place, as the music goes until midnight by the pools. Shopping was good, grounds were very well maintained, beach was nice despite the influx of seaweed (not their fault) The staff worked non-stop to clear as much as possible. DEFINITELY DO THE SNORKEL EXCURSION AT WET SET IN PUERTO MORALES!!! THE 2ND LARGEST REEF IN THE WORLD AND IT IS AMAZING!
