The Hotel Esplanade is a wonderful Grande Dame of a hotel that was originally built to accommodate passengers from the Orient Express. In 2025 the Esplanade celebrates its 100 year anniversary. All the charm and history remains from that era, but the hotel has been completely renovated and offers all the modern amenities that today's travelers expect. We stayed two nights and were assigned a large, well-appointed room on the fifth floor. Service was excellent and the funishings and public areas of the hotel all speak luxury. Definitely eat in the hotel, both Zinfandel's and Le Bistro are excellent. The Esplanade is an easy walk from the old town and mere steps from the botanical garden which is full bloom during our visit. I would definitely go back.

Decent comfortable stay

The hotel is less than 30 mins away from airport via Uber. The staff were friendly at the welcome desk. The room is huge with a large bathroom. The room is a little out of date but cozy. Breakfast is decent European selection. Location wise, it is a little walk to the key attractions

Old World Glam!

This hotel exudes old world glam and its history is rich. The staff are quite helpful and kind. Room service was great. Had a conference here and the main ballroom is also gorgeous.

This hotel should not be 5*. It is outdated, run down and doesn’t have 5* service, some staff are rude, unfriendly, badly managed, should change management perhaps Kempinski group could help. No water is supplied, when asked we are told tap water is drinkable. We used 1 glass to drink water from the bathroom tap for 4 days, glass wasn’t replaced or washed at all. When our bed linen was changed, they didn’t change 2 pillow cases. There was no toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving blades ect, there were only 2 ear buds, one makeup pad, shower cap. Not a large selection for breakfast. Only thing going for it is its historical value. Do not recommend it and will not be staying here again.
