We arrived to a very warm welcome, beautiful building reception and main rooms. Reception stored our luggage so we could go out for the day. Returned to check in and we were a little disappointed with our room but it was only a night. If a longer stay we would have asked for a change. Room was small and needed updating. No curtain on the dirty window so light shined through all night. Tiny shower room, water went everywhere after showering. A real shame as staff were wonderful, breakfast great. Special mention to Carmen, what a lovely lady. Great location though,could be something special if rooms were improved.

Short London trip

Beautiful building still well maintained. Perfect location next to Hyde park and 5 mins. walk to the tube network. Efficient professional, polite staff, excellent restaurant service and tasty food. I shall definitely use this hotel again when in London. Thank you.

The property was beautiful. And we very much enjoyed staying in the Hyde Park area. It was only a 5 minute walk to restaurants, Hyde Park itself, train station and the hop on/off bus tour stop. The room was a bit smaller than expected. Our window didn't have any type of covering: no blinds or drapes. We had light that came into the room all day and night. The plug in the bathtub didn't plug. There is a lounge menu posted in the elevator and after a long day of touring and walking we went into the lounge to order food. They couldn't provide any food that evening because they didn't have someone to make it. I found this interesting and disappointing considering they posted a menu in the hotel. Any requests we had, the front desk was excellent. Everyone was helpful as much as they could be and extremely friendly.

Location, Location, Location

Stayed at the Grand ages ago and it looks like not much has changed since our last visit. It's an older hotel with lots of charm and a fantastic lounge and great room on the main floor, but in need of renovation. Rooms are what one would expect for a modestly priced Central London location: small with little to no space and just basic conveniences. Staff were friendly, service was prompt and rooms were cleaned regularly. Biggest advantage the hotel has is its Bayswater location (a block away from two Tube stops with access to three different lines) and lots of local food options. I

The most beautiful interiors you'll ever see in a hotel. They could make this place a museum and charge admission just to see inside. Breakfast in the paneled dining room is a fabulous experience.

London Stay.

Temperature in the Hotel was extremely hot.We could not turn the heating down and we could not open a window.I had asked for a Deluxe Double room and I was very disappointed to find it was a very small room.If this was was deluxe i would not like to see the standard double room.All the floor boards creeked where ever you stood.The breakfast was ok with hot and cold food available.

The property is a unique historic building maintained to a great extend as originally built and decorated but with all modern amenities and cleanliness of a modern hotel. Very romantic and very different than the other standardized hotels in the area and elsewhere. The quality of the main breakfast offerings was well above average for the price.

Have had the pleasure of staying at this Edwardian beauty of a hotel countless times over some fourteen years, once living in the hotel for six weeks straight. Caveat emptor (especially to fellow Americans): rooms in London hotels are small -- and the Grand Royale's are as well. But on other fronts: the historic beauty of the hotel inside and out; its well-trained, responsive staff working under gifted General Manager Nema DaSliva); its cleanliness; its breakfast (brilliantly run by Manuela and Carmen); its location (directly across from Kensington Gardens and a stone's throw from three tube lines), grocery stores, a laundry, and numerous restaurants (including Jeremy King's superb new eatery, "The Park," right around the corner -- the hotel is unbeatable. Yes, a renovation is needed, but the hotel's worn gentility is part of the charm. At the front desk, Hazel, Maureen, and others too numerous to name, are friendly and helpful -- and quick to remediate any problem. Finally, the rates are extremely reasonable. If you want perfection, go to the Dorchester for massive rates per night. If you want a communal ambience and great people, go to the Grand Royale. Cannot wait to return!

Lovely Quaint Hotel Near To The Central Line Tube

This was a lovely little find, in an area of London I've never stayed in before. I specifically chose this hotel as the nearest tube station (Queensway) was just around the corner and on the Central Line, which made getting to the TV studios at White City, where we were heading to that night, very easy. It's a lovely, quaint hotel with lots of its original, charming features. The staff were all so friendly & helpful & the young lady who served us at breakfast was particularly delightful. Our room was on the small side, as was the bathroom, but for our one night stay, it was OK. I would definitely want a larger room if I stayed longer than one night. The complimentary bottles of water, fruit & chocolates were a welcome touch & very much appreciated. We would definitely stay here again & recommend this lovely hotel. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Poor for the price.

Room was little dirty, Duvet was lumpy which made it cold . We asked for blankets and got a single duvet. There was paint on the curtains, mastic in bathroom around the bath was extremely tacky and looked unclean which must have carried bacteria. At 5 am I was woken by a water leak in the bathroom from a ceiling spotlight. Dripping 2/3 time a second. This made floor and toilet wet. Went on for a good hour. As the room was I. Curtain were not suitable for the room there for allowing light into the room when closed, not shower curtain causing soaking floor exiting the shower area and no shampoo just body wash.

An absolutely stunning building that has tastefully been converted into a modern hotel. Prices are extremely competitive, the staff were incredibly helpful and polite and breakfast was every bit as good as many hotels that charge a lot more. Highly recommended just to enjoy studying the decor.
