The little things added up

Stayed at Gloucester station area before but this was first time at this hotel. Value for price based on size of room, pay when checking in, and other amenities. However, this was offset by many small frustrations such as lack of heat, no outlets near bed, operator never answered phone, luggage not placed in room after advance tip, concierage unknowledgeable, late housekeeping, insufficient hangers. They seemed overwhelmed by convention-goers. Will change location and hotel next time.

I liked the hotel location. We stayed in the hotel between Friday and Sunday. At 6 am and during the night you could hear outside noise like people talking or Waitrose unpacking delivery for the market. We had a room at 5th floor but it still disturbed our sleep. A few days before the visit I have received an email from the hotel with discount possible for services booked ahead of time. I did book the breakfast. At the hotel though the when asked about the price it was exactly the same price. The emails offered by the hotel were misleading. The price for the breakfast buffet of £20 per person was too high for the quality received. In general the hotel has to offer a great location but lacks on quality and is overpriced.

Hugely disturbed sleep | Windows not soundproofed

Room was clean and bed comfortable. However, really disappointingly, the windows were not soundproofed at all. Kept getting woken up by people chatting outside below (outside Grosvenor Casino). Not ideal before venturing on a 6+ hour car journey the following day. Unfortunately at checkout I wasn't asked how my stay was, just a token 'thank you for checking out' with a smile.

Friendly staff but low water pressure

Good stay with my family. Clean room with friendly and helpful staff. But, terrible water pressure in our room, so taking a shower was difficult. Delicious and varied breakfast options for vegetarians and meat eaters.

Communications were terrible, no heat in room, television would not work. Asked for a blanket, told they didn't have any, technician said could not fix heat said person come tomorrow, no one came. Television kept freezing technician said the AV guy will look at tomorrow. Asked for Manager, told no manager. Finally went to front desk to air issues and the desk person ran for manager. He came out introduced himself, I informed him his staff have been saying they had no manager? Turns out they do have blankets, the rooms have no heat just AC (so what was tech trying to fix?), provided a space heater. Manager offered new room the next day but as we were leaving it was not worth hassle of moving for one day, room likely same but different issues.
