The area that could be improved is the lifts. I first stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, and the lifts are no better - too slow and not enough. I would suggest that the lifts are the next area to be refurbished and upgraded.
My only complaint is I wanted to open my window a bit more in order to let in more fresh air and catch a view of the surrounding downtown buildings. I understand this might be a safety precaution but this imposed restricted window view made me feel a little claustrophobic in my tiny standard room.
I like the location of the hotel. I've stayed here 3 times now. They always give me a good room with a view, however, the pillows are so uncomfortable each time. I have a terrible night's sleep because of it.
Directions to hotel were not very good. A street number would have been better.
Also although the breakfast was good value for money, I would have preferred to have the option clearly stated at the outset that breakfast was extra

Fire Alarm went off at 4.30am, no staff to guide us. Communication poor, if there had of been a fire there would have been fatalities, as guests had no idea. Front reception is deceptively as clean and inviting, but rooms tied and dirty.

It was ok, average I would say. You pay for the location which is perfect but the room is just average and quite small. Not a massive problem as only sleeping in there. We also had a false fire alarm at 4.15am!
It is conveniently located if you have a business in West End, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, British Museum etc. The facility may not be up to date or first class but i like the location so I stay here when I visit the above places.
Was very surprised at how lovely the hotel was given some of the rewiews. Our room was clean, tea & coffee making facilities, bed was comfy, location is excellent. Couldnt fault it, and reasonable priced too.
Will defo stay again and would recommend
