The Hydro has a yesterday charm; it’s inviting and for me a pleasure to stay when working away. Food was not as good as the last time I stayed, but hoping that is just a blip.

I had a great stay staff were friendly the hotel was everything you need. the food was excelent on the evening and breakfast was lovely as well. I would be happy to stay here again.

Well situated for walking and getting into town

We were there to walk 7 sisters and hotel conveniently situated. Public rooms were very large and pleasant. Breakfast was adequate and serving staff excellent. Couldn't reserve car parking but managed to find space on arrival and plenty of free street parking available. Bedroom/bathroom was a bit tired but adequate. Had dinner in the hotel one night, plenty of choice and service good.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Hydro as the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was included with good food and service. All together this hotel is a real gem, offering excellent service, location and decor.

Wonderful hotel

Love this hotel. Makes you feel you have stepped back in time. Beautiful view of the South Downs from the bedroom window. Room very clean with plenty of hot drinks provided on the drinks tray. Staff friendly and helpful. Hot breakfast very tasty. There was also plenty to choose from from the cold table including juices, cereals, fruit, cold meat and rolls. When we stayed the weather was really sunny which made our room really hot. A fan was provided but the room was still really hot during the night as the windows could only be only opened slightly so that the birds did not come into the room.

The staff were lovely with excellent service. The rooms were comfortable with good quality facilities. Breakfast was very good. The hotel was fairly quiet but you could hear people talking in the room above. It might have been a problem if they had put a loud TV on, but fortunately they did not.
