Very good

Excellent location. Very good and spacious room, and a very good breakfast. The hotel is a little run down, but doesnt matter as the important things (room, location and breakfast) are good.

Great location, but cold

The hotel's superb location allows us to forgive much. Nevertheless, a window which would not fasten in February kept the room cold. Staff were informed and I was given a second electric heater which really helped, but the draft and noise was unwelcome. Reception staff are friendly but the window remained unfixed for my second night.

Upon arrival, the hotel was found to be very bright and airy. However, the room was cold and damp at times during the visit. The shower in the bathroom was virtually unsuable due to not being able to adjust the angle of the shower head's spray whatsoever - the resulting water spray was virtually horizontal, and the control on the mixer taps to adjust the shower's temperature was very difficult to use. The latter tended to result in scalding hot water, rather than a comfortable water temperature. One of the "clean" and folded hand towels that was provided by the hotel for my stay there, had what was clearly dried excrement stains on it from a previous user (just why?????). These issues left me with a less than satisfied view of its management quality processes, although the various staff that I spoke to during my stay were all very helpful and friendly when dealing with any queries that I may have had at the time.

Electrically challenged

I wouldn't normally mark down for a trivial thing, but it's a biggie for me. Room had only one electrical outlet. Otherwise, while shabby, the hotel was clean, convenient for the station and shops and friendly and welcoming. Oh, and the lift smelt of cabbage.

Arrived at 3.30pm to check in, was asvised bar didnt open until around 8pm (despite website saying offered hotel bar) room was spotless with comfy bed. Went to see a show and was back at hotel 11.04pm was told bar shut at 11pm! Hotel in great location despite this.

Does the job! Perfect for one night.

It was soooooo hot. The heaters in the passage were on full so even with ours off in the room, the heat came in and it was boiling hot. (And yes this was in January!) The windows in our room didnt work so we couldnt open them to get some cool air in. The bed was comfy enough and the linen was clean. TV is small but enough channels for while youre in the room. Basic but perfectly met our needs and we really cant complain for the price. I would definitely consider it as an option if we returned to the area.

I got a fabulous room. It was massive and had a huge hugh bed, loved it. An absolute bargain! Perfectly placed hotel in the centre of Manchester.

Good enough for an overnight stay, no major issues

Stayed here with my Son following a gig in Manchester and don't have any major complaints, we had a great check-in in the lovely foyer/bar area and found our room, yes it needed some sprucing up but it had beds, a shower and a toilet, an added bonus was tea and coffee facilities. We had to have a room move following an issue but this was done quickly and smoothly and was actually an upgrade as it had a window! again the room wasn't the most perfect aesthetically but in the main it was comfortable and clean and served it's purposed well. Due to the price and the location we would definitely consider using this hotel again.

It is a very dated hotel. In our first room one of the windows couldn’t be closed and we had to ask for a change of the rooms. The next room had working windows but the carpet was incredibly dirty and the room smelled of cigarettes. Very cold breakfast are with another window that couldn’t be closed!
